Drone Services
At Citizen Click we produce an amazing range of cutting edge, high quality drone cinematography in Birmingham and the surrounding locations. Our pilot, Matt, is a fully trained and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) approved Drone pilot which enables us to provide a range of drone services with the use of multi-rotor aircraft under 7kg. These services include:
Why Drones?
The commercial drone business is a rapidly expanding market which enables us to capture stunning footage that was once only available to those on big budget productions. As such, there are many benefits to incorporating drone filming into your business films.
Drones are extremely versatile and give filmmakers an infinite amount of options when it comes to capturing your content. They can fly anywhere from a few centimetres off the ground up to 400ft in the air. Not only this, they can also fly indoors and in tight locations. For example, if you wanted to show off your building, you can fly a drone from the main reception out through the front doors and up into the air in one continuous panning shot.
In addition to the versatility, drones are a massive time saver. In the past organising a helicopter to fly over a site so that you could film a few shots would require a massive team of people to coordinate the process and ensure that everyone involved is safe. This was a very time consuming process. With drones, you can be up in the air within 15 minutes and the whole operation can be handled by one or two staff members who will ensure the safety of everyone during a flight.
One of the main selling points for drones is the quality of the cameras that come equipped with them. The crystal clear image that you get which each shot means the footage can be used in any production and not look out of place. Our pilot Matt has a live HD video feed which is displayed through his smartphone and is used to capture the necessary shots of each shoot. It allows him to change the settings on the camera while the drone is still airborne which means we can be very flexible in changing weather conditions.

How We Operate
Before any commercial operation can begin, a number of criteria must be satisfied by Matt and he must be happy with the flying location and the task that has been asked of him before he will give the green light on any flight.
First of all we will need the location of the shoot (including an exact postcode) from yourself, a potential date for the operation to take place and as much background information as possible on what you want us to film.
From here we will conduct an office based site survey to ensure that a flight is possible within the area of operation. We will do this by communicating with local emergency services and air traffic control to gain permission for a flight, conducting health and safety & risk assessments, monitoring weather forecasts, and checking for any buildings/structures that could interfere with a flight.
We will sometimes be satisfied that a flight can take place based on the survey completed in the office however it is common practice for us to arrange a site visit for some of the trickier flight locations. This is to ensure the safety of the drone, crew and all who are on site during the operation.
Once we are happy with this, we will book you in for a filming day!
Drones are completely weather dependent so it is entirely possible that we arrive at the site on the day of filming and find that conditions are not suitable for a flight. The main 3 considerations that will affect a flight going ahead are wind speed, precipitation and visibility. We will of course monitor all weather forecasts in the build up to the filming date so that we have a very clear picture of whether or not we will be able to fly. As we know though, weather reports can sometimes be wrong which is why we will never know for sure until we arrive on the day!
Our pilot Matt will have the final say on whether or not a flight will take place and the decision to not fly on any given day can be made at his discretion. In the event of a cancellation, we will reschedule the flight for the next available date.
